Best Dentist in Marlborough at Oxford Smiles, Addressing All Your Dental Needs.

Invisalign Adult

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that uses clear removable aligners to straighten your teeth without the use of metal braces. These custom-made aligners fit over your teeth and gently adjust their position over time. Invisalign braces for adults are a great orthodontic solution, especially considering that the aligners are virtually invisible, so most people won’t even realize you have them on!

Invisalign Treatment Process

Invisalign treatment starts with a consultation with our amazing Invisalign-trained Dentists. We will then create advanced 3D images of your teeth using the iTero® Digital Scanning System. This allows us to map out a precise, customized digital treatment plan that details the step-by-step transformation of your smile as well as the length of your treatment.

Your custom-made aligners will be created using Invisalign’s SmartTrack® material, which is virtually invisible. Once you have your aligners, you will wear each set for 20-22 hours a day, changing to a new set every 1-2 weeks. Each set of aligners will gently and gradually shift your teeth into place, following your treatment plan until you reach your perfect smile!

Benefits of Invisalign For Adults

Invisalign is a great option for adults looking to straighten their smiles. The aligners are barely noticeable and involve a treatment process that is far easier to manage than traditional braces. Some of the main benefits to adult Invisalign include:

  • They allow you to discreetly straighten your teeth.
  • You can remove them for meals and snacks, which means there are fewer food restrictions.
  • It easily fits your lifestyle.
  • Since you can remove your aligners to brush and floss, they make oral hygiene easy.
  • Depending on your malocclusion, they can be just as effective as traditional braces.
  • Effective for treating crowding, gaps, and bite issues.

Invisalign® offers a discreet and convenient way for adults to straighten their teeth without the look and feel of traditional braces. The clear aligners are virtually invisible, removable, and custom-made for comfort — allowing you to eat, brush, and floss with ease. Whether you’re correcting crowding, gaps, or bite issues, Invisalign fits seamlessly into professional and social lifestyles, making it an ideal choice for adults looking to improve their smile without disrupting their daily routine.

Frequently Asked Questions

We have answered some of the most common questions

Root canal treatment is a dental procedure used to treat infection at the center of a tooth. It involves removing the infected or damaged pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the inside of the tooth, and then filling and sealing it.

A root canal is necessary when the pulp inside the tooth becomes infected or inflamed due to deep decay, repeated dental procedures, faulty crowns, or a crack or chip in the tooth. Left untreated, it can cause pain or lead to an abscess.

Modern root canal treatments are relatively painless, thanks to advances in anesthesia and dental techniques. Most patients report that the experience is similar to having a cavity filled.

Common symptoms include severe toothache, prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold, discoloration of the tooth, swelling and tenderness in nearby gums, or a recurring pimple on the gums.

The dentist or endodontist will numb the area around the tooth, create an opening in the crown of the tooth, remove the infected or damaged pulp, clean and shape the root canals, and then fill and seal the space. The tooth is then restored with a filling or crown.

A root canal typically takes one to two visits, with each visit lasting about 60 to 90 minutes. The exact time can vary depending on the complexity of the case.

After the procedure, you may experience some sensitivity or discomfort, which can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers. Most patients can return to their normal activities the next day.

Follow your dentist’s instructions, which may include avoiding chewing on the treated tooth until it’s fully restored. Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing regularly, and visit your dentist for regular check-ups.

Often, a tooth that has undergone a root canal will need a crown to restore its strength and functionality. Your dentist will discuss the best restoration option for your specific case.

As with any procedure, there are risks, including potential infection, damage to surrounding teeth, or the possibility of the procedure failing and needing to be redone. Your dentist will discuss these risks with you beforehand.

With proper care, a tooth that has undergone a root canal can last a lifetime. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene are essential to maintaining the health of your treated tooth.

Most teeth can be treated with a root canal. However, in some cases where the tooth is severely damaged or lacks sufficient structure, extraction might be necessary. Your dentist will evaluate your situation to determine the best course of action.

Preserving your natural tooth is generally the best option, as it maintains your bite and jaw structure. Root canal treatment allows you to keep your tooth, which is preferable to extraction followed by a bridge or implant.

Antibiotics are not typically necessary for root canal treatment unless you have a specific medical condition that warrants them or there is an active infection that needs to be managed. Your dentist will advise you based on your individual health needs.
