Best Dentist in Marlborough at Oxford Smiles, Addressing All Your Dental Needs.

Understanding PPO Dental Insurance

At Oxford Smiles, we accept a wide range of Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) dental plans to give you access to top-quality care. PPO insurance plans allow you to choose from a list of accredited dentists, offering flexibility while ensuring you receive the best treatment for your needs.

Depending on your plan, many PPO insurances cover a variety of services, including exams, treatments, and procedures, with little to no out-of-pocket costs, or require just a co-payment. Our team will gladly assist you in filing insurance claims for any services you receive at our office, so you don’t have to worry about the paperwork.

No need to bring your insurance card! Simply provide the name of your insurance plan and any additional information to our front desk, and we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll also verify your coverage and let you know what’s covered and what you may need to pay.

Accepted Insurance Providers

Delta Dental

  • Delta Dental PPO plus Premier:

Delta Dental PPO Plus Premier offers enhanced financial security for enrollees and groups by providing an annual maximum coverage amount that can be used within a set period, typically one year. The specific coverage amount depends on the plan type, offering flexibility and peace of mind when accessing dental services.

  • Delta Dental PPO: on the other hand, ensures that participating dentists are prohibited from billing or collecting fees that exceed the agreed-upon cost outlined at the time of scheduling. This helps maintain transparency and ensures that enrollees are not unexpectedly burdened with additional costs.

Relaxed Care for Your Best Smile

Metlife

MetLife boasts one of the largest networks in the country, ensuring a smoother experience for patients. Even if you choose to go outside the network, you can still enjoy substantial benefits. The agreed charges typically range from 15% to 45% lower than standard fees, offering you cost savings, and the possibility of covering services that may not be included under traditional plans.

Aetna

Aetna offers nearly comprehensive dental coverage, including preventive services like check-ups and cleanings, as well as treatments such as fillings, crowns, and root canals.

With Aetna, you can customize your plan by selecting deductibles, maximums, coinsurance levels, and benefit tiers that suit your needs.

You also have the flexibility to choose your dentist. If you opt for a non-participating dentist, Aetna will reimburse you based on the standard agreed-upon fees. No referral is needed, and you can visit any licensed dentist of your choice.

Cigna

  • Cigna Dental Preventive: This plan offers no annual maximum or deductibles and covers diagnostic and preventive services without additional charges.
  • Cigna Dental 1000: Provides up to $1,000 in coverage per year, after a $50 individual deductible or a $150 family deductible.
  • Cigna Dental 1500: Similar to the Cigna 1000 plan, but offers a higher coverage limit of up to $1,500 per year.

After meeting your deductible, routine and preventive care are fully covered, even if you visit an out-of-network dentist. For other services such as bridgework, dentures, extractions, fillings, root canals, crowns, gum treatments, anesthesia, and surgery, you share the cost with the insurance company. Depending on the procedure, your portion typically ranges from 25% to 50%.

Bluecross

BlueCross offers two distinct plans: the Dental Blue Basic Plan and the Dental Blue Enhanced Plan. Both plans cover preventive services within the network, while providing 80% coverage for out-of-network care. Please note that there is a 6-month waiting period for the Dental Blue Basic Plan and a 12-month waiting period for major services under the Dental Blue Enhanced Plan.

For fillings, the cost-sharing is 20% within the network and 40% outside of it. Both plans include a deductible of $25 per individual and $150 per family for the Enhanced Plan. The annual maximum for the Dental Blue Basic Plan is $500,000, while the Dental Blue Enhanced Plan offers a higher annual maximum of $1,250.

United Concordia

United Concordia does not apply deductibles to preventive services. With an annual maximum of $1,000, the deductibles typically range from $100 to $300. Periodontal services are covered at 100% for eligible members. Additionally, members can receive an average discount of up to 30% on non-covered services.

Assurant

The Secure Choice Individual Plan offers a streamlined experience with no claim forms, deductibles, or annual maximums. Instead, it features a fixed copayment schedule for visits to both specialists and dentists.

Guardian

With Guardian’s PPO plan, you can enjoy an average savings of 30% on treatments, helping you protect both your oral health and your wallet. Plus, you’ll receive a pretreatment cost estimate, so you’ll know exactly what to expect in terms of payment before your procedure.

About PPO Dental Insurance

The PPO plan is a popular choice for both individuals and families. While it has a network of preferred dentists, you have the flexibility to choose a provider outside of that list. There’s no need for a referral to see a specialist or change dentists, making it convenient for those who prefer more freedom in their dental care. The insurance will cover a portion of the costs based on the agreed rates, and you’ll be responsible for any remaining balance.

Frequently Asked Questions

To make the most informed decision for your Dental Implants,
We have answered some of the most common questions

Root canal treatment is a dental procedure used to treat infection at the center of a tooth. It involves removing the infected or damaged pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the inside of the tooth, and then filling and sealing it.

A root canal is necessary when the pulp inside the tooth becomes infected or inflamed due to deep decay, repeated dental procedures, faulty crowns, or a crack or chip in the tooth. Left untreated, it can cause pain or lead to an abscess.

Modern root canal treatments are relatively painless, thanks to advances in anesthesia and dental techniques. Most patients report that the experience is similar to having a cavity filled.

Common symptoms include severe toothache, prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold, discoloration of the tooth, swelling and tenderness in nearby gums, or a recurring pimple on the gums.

The dentist or endodontist will numb the area around the tooth, create an opening in the crown of the tooth, remove the infected or damaged pulp, clean and shape the root canals, and then fill and seal the space. The tooth is then restored with a filling or crown.

A root canal typically takes one to two visits, with each visit lasting about 60 to 90 minutes. The exact time can vary depending on the complexity of the case.

After the procedure, you may experience some sensitivity or discomfort, which can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers. Most patients can return to their normal activities the next day.

Follow your dentist’s instructions, which may include avoiding chewing on the treated tooth until it’s fully restored. Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing regularly, and visit your dentist for regular check-ups.

Often, a tooth that has undergone a root canal will need a crown to restore its strength and functionality. Your dentist will discuss the best restoration option for your specific case.

As with any procedure, there are risks, including potential infection, damage to surrounding teeth, or the possibility of the procedure failing and needing to be redone. Your dentist will discuss these risks with you beforehand.

With proper care, a tooth that has undergone a root canal can last a lifetime. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene are essential to maintaining the health of your treated tooth.

Most teeth can be treated with a root canal. However, in some cases where the tooth is severely damaged or lacks sufficient structure, extraction might be necessary. Your dentist will evaluate your situation to determine the best course of action.

Preserving your natural tooth is generally the best option, as it maintains your bite and jaw structure. Root canal treatment allows you to keep your tooth, which is preferable to extraction followed by a bridge or implant.

Antibiotics are not typically necessary for root canal treatment unless you have a specific medical condition that warrants them or there is an active infection that needs to be managed. Your dentist will advise you based on your individual health needs.

Your dental practice should provide you with contact information for after-hours questions or emergencies. Make sure to obtain this information before you leave the office.
